Step 3: The "How"
Quick Steps:
1 - Pick ONE hobby and ONE career idea to start working on
2 - Create a timetable for when you plan to work on these
So now we have an idea of WHY we're embarking on this journey and a clear vision of what life will be like once we've achieved our goals.
We also know WHAT we can do to help us achieve these goals, ordered by the ease of startup and how interested we are, and also whether it can be started as a hobby or needs to be undertaken as a career.
We now embark on the HOW part of the journey; detailing the steps we need to take in order to get our ideas off the ground and ultimately replace our employed income with an income of our own.
The first thing we need to do is pick out just ONE Hobby and ONE Career from this list. I'd suggest picking a hobby which is FREE to start and a career which is either free/cheap to start, or which can be learnt/built upon whilst you continue your current job (for the time being, if you have one...).
ACTION: From your list, pick ONE hobby and ONE career idea which you can start focusing on
I'd highly recommend starting off with a FREE idea which you can start as a hobby - either whilst you continue in your current job, or whilst you start a new venture from the career side of you list.
If you're currently working, I'd recommend creating a timetable of when you'll be doing work and what you'll be working on. For me, my timetable saw me working for an hour each morning on my hobby (THIS blog) and an hour each evening on my career (researching and practicing window cleaning techniques, prices, products, etc.).
ACTION: Create a timetable of when you plan on doing this work and what work you intend to do

For me, I chose to write THIS BLOG guiding people through the daunting process of leaving employment and starting up on your own. I decided on this because it's something I'm passionate about, which is free to start and which can be done in my spare time. Ok, it'll be quite some time before I can start making money from it, but what have I got to lose except some time? Besides, I thought it'd be a great way to journal my progress whilst potentially helping people reach their dreams on the way.
It's also really important that you don't try to start too many things at once. You need to FOCUS on one thing at a time, putting 100% of your effort in as you go. This isn't to say you won't be able to try your other ideas, it's just you should tackle them one at a time to give you the best possible chance of succeeding.
