Welcome - Who is this blog for?

Almost everyone I've spoken to during my career has felt unsatisfied with their lot. Much like me, they've often had "successful" careers, of which others are envious. Yet they still have a burning desire to do something else - to break free from the shackles of the 9-5 job. So this blog is for those who have the desire to do something different, but haven't quite done anything about it yet, or haven't quite achieved what they'd set out to achieve. "...being in a job you can tolerate is far more dangerous than being in one you can't." If your job is bearable  at the moment, you'll find the decision to quit and go it alone far more daunting. That's why I often say being in a job you can tolerate is far more dangerous than being in one you can't. Step 1 of this blog will help you understand why  you feel unsatisfied in your current job, and what you should be looking out for in your next venture. In Step 2 we will explore...

Step 1: The "Why"

Quick Steps: 1 - Write a list of your motivators 2 - Envisage what life will be like once these are achieved 3 - Calculate what you need to earn  and make concessions if possible As with most things in life, your fledgling business venture will have a far greater chance of success if you're prepared. The first step in preparing yourself to quit your day job is to think about what's motivating you to make this drastic change. Do you want to work outside, rather than at a desk?  Do you want the freedom to work the hours you want?  Do you want more money?  Do you want to be your own boss? Do you want to live in the Countryside? Think about your motivating factors, then visualise what life will be like after you've achieved success. Maybe even write these down, as they'll be used as constant motivators to keep you going when things maybe aren't going as planned.
